Elphin Sports Centre Elphin Sports Centre

ELPHIN SPORTS CENTRE

was established as Dowling Street Sports Centre in 1964 run by a Board of Management from the user sports - basketball, badminton and table tennis. 1970 and 1974 additional funding was obtained expanding the Centre to:

  • 4 basketball/badminton/volleyball courts
  • 1 table tennis centre
  • 2 squash courts
  • Canteen and offices
  • Change room and toilet facilities

A federal government bi-centennial grant in 1988 saw the much needed extension of halls 3 and 4, change rooms, office, kiosk , meeting room and the Allan Willox Mezzanine function room. The Centre became known as the Elphin Sports Centre.

2005, a state government grant enabled the Centre to undergo major maintenance, including a lift for disabled, new equipment for all current user sports, security, video/audio, renovated function room and a large storage facility.
